Rebecca reached out to me just before Christmas to schedule family holiday photos while they were in town visiting family. She and her husband were spending the holidays in La Quinta with her parents and extended family, and it felt like the perfect time to finally document their growing family. Their sweet little boy was already almost a year old—and somehow, like so many new parents, they still hadn’t had professional family photos taken yet. Time really does fly.
They live in San Francisco, which they love, but after months of chilly fog and gray skies, they were craving something different for their photos. Warm light. Open space. That soft desert sun that just hits differently. I knew exactly where to take them.
The La Quinta Cove was the obvious choice—golden afternoon light, wide-open desert views, and a peaceful, natural setting that never feels overdone. We spent the session wandering through the Cove Oasis area, taking our time and letting things unfold naturally. It’s such a beautiful spot, and one of my favorites for family sessions because it’s clean, easy to navigate, and perfect even with a stroller and a curious, on-the-move toddler.
Instead of posing or forcing moments, we just let their little guy explore while Mom and Dad soaked it all in—laughing, cuddling, and enjoying being together in the warm desert air. Those are the moments that matter, and the ones that always end up meaning the most years down the road.
